More Ways to Communicate:

Grapeview has a variety of ways to communicate with our families and we want to make sure you all have the opportunity to engage with the methods that work best for you. In order to be more eco-friendly we try to avoid sending paper copies home as much as we can.  We are committed to keep our website up to date with important information, School Advisory Council updates, important dates, monthly newsletters, etc. We also have a Twitter Feed: @GrapeviewSchool for us to update the community as well.  We are also starting a schoolwide Remind App page for brief reminders via text messages.  If you are interested, please click on the link below.

Welcome to Fall at Grapeview:

We first want to reflect back on September and thank our community for a great start to the school year. We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting new families and reconnecting with our Grapeview community at our Open House last month. We hope you had the op-portunity to meet your child(ren)’s teacher(s) and explore the building where we spend our day learning together. We would also like to thank all those parents that came to our first Parent Council Meeting of the school year. Our first Parent Council event will be held on October 23 at 6:00 pm . All parents are welcome to attend an evening with Paul Davis. Paul Davis educates and empowers parents on topics that include social network-ing and online safety for children.
Looking ahead to October we again have many ways to continue to celebrate our school and the learning that is happening. In an effort to have all families in at least one time this year we are starting Celebration Assemblies. These assemblies will be held monthly. Each teacher/classroom will recognize a few students, that month, that demonstrated greatness that was above and beyond the greatness they show daily. We will divide the assemblies into primary and junior/ intermediate to make the experience more meaningful and age appropriate. We are looking forward to celebrating with you. If your child is receiving an award during that month your child’s classroom teacher will contact you and invite you to join the assembly, all parents/ family members are welcome.

As we begin to settle into the school year we would like to ensure that you know that we are committed to being your partner in education and are always focused on students success. To achieve this success we believe that our partnership is key. Parents and guardians know their children best and we must work together to understand each other, problem solve and celebrate for student achievement. Your school team is always here for you and that team begins with our teachers. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your classroom teacher to share successes, join you in celebrations or discuss concerns.
Sincerely,

Mr. Hancox and Ms. K. Veld

Scent Aware-Reduced Environment:

Grapeview is a Scent-Reduced Environment: many people have a sensitivity to odours, smells, and scents. Please do not wear, or send your child with, perfume, cologne, after shave, or scented body lotion into the school.

At DSBN high schools, students are the stars.

From November 26-29, see all the opportunities schools offer to help students achieve success and #Instafame.

Keeping our School Safe and Healthy

If you have a child with a Prevalent Medical Condition (Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Diabetes, and/or Epilepsy) we want to make sure we have a current Plan of Care to support your child.

The Plan of Care form is a new document that replaces the Emergency Action Plan. All parents of children with Prevalent Medical Conditions are asked to fill out the new Plan of Care and submit to the school.

You can download the forms here dsbn.org/prevalent-medical-conditions.

For more information, please contact the school.
